BRIEF
Fly By Nite Reviews is a YouTube channel I created, along with my good friend, to create weekly videos discussing various film and television programs. We needed a logo that would be impactful, simple and avoid cliches.
IDEAS & SKETCHES
Since this logo is for a YouTube channel specializing in movie and TV reviews, I felt that the neon aesthetic captured the look and feel we wanted. I looked at different reference images to get some inspiration before sketching out ideas. At one point, I wanted to include a film reel and possibly an airplane but felt it was too much on the nose.
LOGO CREATION
Making sure the logo was as bold as possible, I opted to use 'Impact' as my font choice.
Corners were rounded and various layouts were attempted until I settled on the one below.
The gold, lime and teal colors really stood out to me and it just felt right. The lime green drop shadow was applied to emphasize the neon light look. I also added a slight texture to the ‘Reviews’ text to give it a stamp on paper like quality.
